Overview

Our Women's Only Class is Zoo BJJ’s training program specifically designed to empower women by: 1) applying effective self-defense techniques and 2) providing a basic introduction to sport Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Above all, the goal of each class will be to have fun in a safe learning environment.

Self-defense

We will teach you to apply self-awareness and verbal assertiveness to deter potential threats. In addition we'll incorporate several non-violent, self-defense techniques to stay safe if physically assaulted. Generally, we don’t teach how to punch or kick, since this often does more harm than good. Instead, we use leverage-based control holds to neutralize threats without violence. All techniques are taught with a safety first mentality which allows students to develop the confidence to apply the techniques on resisting partners without sacrificing effectiveness.

Sport Jiu-Jitsu

Students will receive a fundamental overview of all positions, techniques, and an introduction to more advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, all while exploring the core concepts and ideas of the sport. Again, all techniques are taught with a safety first mentality which allows students to develop the confidence to apply the techniques on resisting partners without sacrificing effectiveness.
